Oakland Rhythmics celebrated the end to a successful competitive season with their annual Gala Performance. The girls from all of the introductory class all the way up to the level 9's showcased their talents and improvement from throughout the year.
After the show, the competitive team stayed for the 2nd annual End of the Year Team Banquet. After a lovely dinner, the Coaches thanked the parents and recognized each gymnast on the team. Upper level team captains handed out paper plate awards to their teammates. It was a special night for all involved to honor everyone's hard work.
This month the level 4 and 5 girls traveled to Minnesota to attend the Region 3 Competition. The girls placed 1st & 2nd in every event in the Beginner Group competition and took home beautiful All Around trophies. During the level 4 competition Ava earned 1st place in Rope and Hoop and 2nd AA, Jackie earned 1st on Hoop and 2nd AA, and Ava earned 3rd AA out of 14 gymnasts! In the level 5 competition, Michelle was the Regional champion, Catherine earned 2nd AA, Lily 3rd AA, and Lorie 4th AA. We are so proud of all your hard work! Great job girls!
At the end of the month, Lorie, Reese, Michelle and Catherine all competed at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center in the National Open Championships. The girls gave strong perfomances and were excited to pose in front of the Rio Olympic Countdown.
This month Oakland Rhythmic gymnasts from levels 3-9 competed at the Chicago Cup Invitational, Spring Fling International Competition, and Level 7-9 Regionals.
At the Chicago Cup, our level 3's all placed in the top of their field and many of them set new personal records! In level 4, Jackie was the highest scoring gymnast out of ALL the level 4's and Ava came in 5th! In level 5 Lily placed 3rd AA in her age division! In level 7, Katie and Charisse were 1st AA, Michelle was 2nd AA, and Judy was 3rd AA in their age divisions! Level 7 Simona earnd 1st in hoop! Level 9 Eliana set a personal record at this meet!
There were many victories to celebrate at the Spring Fling International Competition. This was the LARGEST meet in the USA with over 500 participants. Our Beginner Groups took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd AA! In level 4, Emma earned 1st AA and Chloe earned 1st on hoop in their age division. Ava earned 2nd on hoop, Jackie earned 3rd on rope, and Ava T. took home 4th AA and Eilat 7th AA. Our level 5's were the overall 3rd place team throughout the whole competition! Catherine was 1st on floor, Michelle was 2nd on hoop, Reese was 1st on ball, Isabella was 4th AA, Lily was 6th AA, and Kristi was 7th on ball. Both ORG Level 8's, Emma and Erin, and Level 9 Sophia, all set AA personal records! The Advance Group earned 1st on floor and 2nd AA. While the Intermediate Group earned 5th AA.
The best gymnasts from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin came to compete for a spot on the JO and All-Star team to represent Region 3 at Junior Olympics! Our level 7-9's worked hard all year long and we are so proud of the many accomplishments they achieved. A big congratulations goes out to Level 8 Arlene for making the All-Star team and earning 1st AA in her age division. Level 7 Simona also took home 1st AA in her age division. Also, Level 7 Kiana was 2nd AA while Judy was 4th AA in their age division. Level 8 Patricia earned 4th AA. Level 7's Anna earned 4th on Ribbon and Angela earned 6th AA.
The month of March was filled with a lot of first time experiences for ORG. Oakland Rhythmics was invited to perform with The Chinese School during the Chinese New Year Festival. ORG gymnasts Michelle, Kiana, and Odelia were also featured during the Chinese dance parts.
Later this month, we participated in their first dance competition. The ORG Intermediate and Advance groups performed their floor routines at the Starpower Dance Competition. The girls were excited to show off their routines and enjoyed this unique experience. Not only did the Advance group take home a5 Star Award, but they also placed in the top 5 top overall highest scoring small groups of the whole competition!
Finally, level 4 gymnasts, Alyssa and Emma, participated in their first ever Rhythmic Xpress Meet led by Coach Allison, making her debut as Head Coach. The girls each earned two individual blue ribbons and a blue ribbon for their floor duet, 6 blue ribbons in all!
Oakland Rhythmics was proud to host the 2016 Valentine Invitational and Michigan and Ohio State Meet! The Beginner groups had a clean sweep taking 1st-5th place AA, Intermediate groups claimed 1st and 2nd AA, and the Advance group competed for the first time ever and took 1st and 2nd place!
We also had 12 Michigan State Champions in level 3-5, level 7-9! The level 2's were also excited to perform for the first time in a competition setting.
This month, Oakland Rhythmics was invited to perform at the University of Michigan's Womens Artistic Gymnastics Competition against their rivals from Michigan State University. ORG gymnasts from levels 5-9 collaborated to showcase their talents in a routine to Hooked on Classics.
Finally, at the end of the month Oakland Rhythmics competed in the Rhythmic Stars Invitational in Boston, Ma. Congratulations to level 7 Katie for earning 1st place AA! Level 7 Judy was 2nd in Ribbon! Level 8 Emma earned 2nd AA! Arlene was the level 8 Ribbon champion and she also placed in a three way tie for 3rd with Patricia in rope!

Later this month, the ORG gymnasts then performed in the In-House Dual Meet. The girls competed their competition individual and group routines to earn points for either team pink or team black. In the end team black won and were awarded pillow pets!
