ORG was invited to perform at the Michigan State University vs. University of Michigan Women's Gymnastics Artistic Competition. This was a wonderful opportunity for our level 6-8 gymnasts to show off their incredible talents.
Also during February ORG hosted the 2015 Michigan State Meet. ORG gymnasts won first place medals in every level in a variety of different age groups! Beginner and Intermediate groups all had strong performances and had each group placing on the podium in both events!
Gymnasts in levels 5-7 flew to Boston, MA to compete in the Rhythmic Stars Invitational. The Beginner Groups placed 1st and 2nd AA and the Intermediate Group earned 2nd AA. Level 5 Catherine competed in both the award winning Beginner Groups. Michelle placed 2nd in her Level 5 floor routine. In level 6, Sedona and the rest of the girls achieved a personal record! Michelle earned 1st AA, Kiana placed 2nd AA, and Odelia placed 5th. In level 7, Patricia placed 2nd AA (1st Rope), Simona earned 2nd AA, Erin was 3rd in floor and 5th in clubs, Emma was 3rd in ball, and Arlene was 4th in floor.
ORG traveled to Chicago, IL this month to compete in the2015 Chicago Cup. Our level 4's placed higher than they have ever done at this meet. Ava F. placed 9th AA, Ava T. earned 2nd AA (5th out of all the level 4s), Linsey 4th AA, Jackie 1st ball (9th out of all of the level 4s ), and Cecilia (2nd ball) placed 3rd in their age division. All Level 5's achieved a personal record at this meet! Michelle earned 6th AA (3rd Rope), Catherine earned 8th AA (3rd Ball), Brooke earned 6th AA (3rd Ball) in her first out of state competition, Reese earned 11th (4th Hoop), Lilly earned 14th AA (10th Rope), and Kristi earned 23rd AA (12th Hoop). Level 6 Sedona earned 3rd place and 7th AA. The level 5's and 6's combined to form 2 Beginner Groups each earning 1st and 2nd in Floor, Ball, and AA!
This year ORG attended it's first Canadian International Competition. The level 7 and 8 girls traveled to Ontario, Canada for the 2015 Spring Blossom International Competition. Level 7 Arlene earned 1st AA, Patricia earned 2nd AA, Erin earned 3rd AA, Katie earned 3rd AA, Emma and Charisse earned 4th AA in their age divisions, and Judy earned 5th AA. Our level 8's had a wonderful showing as well. Sophia earned 3rd in Clubs and Eliana 3rd in Hoop and 6th AA. The level 7's and 8's combined to form 2 groups earning 1st and 2nd in Floor, Hoop, and AA!
This was the largest Region 3 Competition ever and the largest ORG delegation sent to a travel regionals. The ORG Beginner and Intermediate groups had a clean sleep! Taking 1st-3rd in the Beginner level and 1st-2nd in the Intermediate level. In level 4, Ava F. placed 1st in ball and 3rd AA, Jackie earned 2nd in ball and 3rd AA, Linsey earned 3rd in floor and ball, and Ava T. earned 5th in rope and AA. Level 5 Michelle earned 1st in ball and 2nd AA. Level 5's Lilly and Lorie tied for 3rd in ball and Catherine earned 4th in ball. In level 6, Sedona won 1st in rope! Kiana earned 2nd in hoop and 3rd in rope and floor! Anna earned 7th in floor and 9th AA. Level 7 Patricia (1st AA) and Arlene (4th AA) earned the opportunity to represent Region 3 at the US Nationals! Level 7 Simona earned 1st AA, Emma earned 2nd in floor, Charisse earned 4th in ball and Katie earned 4th in rope. Level 8 Sophia (4th ball) also qualified to represent Region 3 at the US Nationals! Level 8 Eliana earned 1st AA and level 9 Sara earned 13th in hoop.
Later this month at theNational Open Championships and Windy City Invitational, ORG Intermediate and Beginner groups both claimed 1st AA! Level 5's Michelle and Catherine both earned 10th in their age divisions! Level 6 Kiana earned 3rd AA and Sedona earned 6th in hoop.
After two months of rehearsals, ORG gymnasts from levels 5-9 performed The Nutcracker with the Academy of Russian Classical Ballet. The girls were featured in both shows; at the Center for the Performing Arts in Brighton and the Detroit Music Hall.
At the 2014 Junior Olympics all four ORG groups had rock solid performances and brought home a lot of medal and trophy hardware! ORG brought home 2nd All Around in Intermediate Group and 2nd, 3rd and 5th All Around in Beginner Group!
Our Junior Olympic Individual All-Star Competitors, Eliana (Level 8) and Patricia (Level 7), each had 4 consistent performances in their first J.O. competition. Great job girls!
Congratulations to ORG's Coach Charlene and Coach Karyn who were recognized by USA Gymnastics as Masters of Sport!! Both coaches have trained gymnasts who have represented the United States of America as an individual or group in the highest level of competition in a Pan American, World Championship, and/or Olympic Game.
Level 5 Odelia represented ORG at Stars and Stripes Junior Olympics in Florida!
Kaitlyn (Level 5) and Arlene (Level 6) represented ORG as well at the Windy City Invitational and USRGCA Classics Competition. Kaitlyn was 1st in her age division and 5th out of all the Level 5's and Arlene placed 1st in her age division and 3rd out of all the Level 6's!
2014 Region 3 Championships was the largest event hosted by ORG in the club's history; 14 clubs representing 6 states. Congratulations to all regional competitors and local volunteers! Patricia, Level 7, and Eliana, Level 8, qualified to compete in the Junior Olympics as Region 3 All-Stars!
This year the Spring Fling International Rhythmic Gymnastics Invitational had around 500 participants from around the world. ORG Beginner and Intermediate groups both received 1st AA! Also, congratulations to all of the ORG individual participates; Arlene, Simona, Emma, Patricia, and Angela!
At the Chicago Cup ORG brought home eleven 1st place medals, fifteen 2nd place medals, and thirteen 3rd place medals among many other top 10 finishes.
Oakland Rhythmics hosted the Michigan State Meet and Valentine Invitational on February 1st-2nd. Over 120 gymnasts from 5 different states participated in this meet. ORG had many, many strong performances and top three finishes throughout each of the levels!
Judy, Arlene, and Coach Davra participated in USAG Camp at National Gymnastics Training Center in Houston, TX.

ORG Beginner Group wins 2nd place at the Il/In State Meet.
It's now official! A new world handstand record! 20,478 gymnasts from more than 100 gymnast clubs nationwide, including Oakland Rhythmic Gymnastics, broke the record for most simultaneous handstands last month.
ORG alumni Aimee represents the USA at the 2011 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships as part of the USA Senior Group in Montpellier, France Sept 21-23rd.
